Jermaine Jones has been disqualified from season 11 of American Idol for concealing multiple crimes from producers, TMZ reports. The 25-year-old was reportedly arrested twice in 2011—once for a "violent" crime, twice giving a fake name to police officers—with two outstanding warrants to his name. His failure to reveal his criminal record is apparently a non-negotiable for Idol producers, who confronted Jones about the issue on Tuesday on camera. Idol fans first caught wind that something was up on Tuesday evening, when Jones tweeted about his departure from the show: "Awww I will no longer b on the show." His Twitter account has since been deleted.
Among one of this season's 13 finalists, Jones was originally brought back by producers during the wild card round on February 28, making his Idol tenure one of the bumpiest and most headline-grabbing in the show's history. Fox has no comment on the situation, but sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the producers' decision to part ways with the contestant will play out on Wednesday's episode, dare we, the viewers, be stripped of the drama we so rightly deserve.
