The Emmys aren't exactly known for their musical performances, but thanks to Glee and Saturday Night Live, they'll always have the chance to throw a couple big medley numbers in there. This year, SNL's Lonely Island troupe (Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, Jorma Taccone) showed up to perform a celebrity-laden mix of all their hits of the last 12 months, including "Jack Sparrow" (featuring Michael Bolton), "3-Way (The Golden Rule)" (normally featuring Lady Gaga, but this time featuring John Stamos, Ed Helms and Maya Rudolph for some reason) and "I Just Had Sex" (featuring a very pitchy Akon).
It's mostly a fun thing, though one point becomes kind of clear—it's pretty much diminishing returns for these guys these days. Do any of these songs stack up to "Lazy Sunday," "Dick in a Box" or "I'm On a Boat"? We don't think so, though maybe it's just that there's only so much you can do the white guys rapping like black guys about white subjects (with special guests!) thing for so long before you need to mix it up some. Still, better than a medley of Glee originals—it could have happened, you know.
