Contemporary artists usually stick to the traditional when doing their holiday albums, but you know a man of the 21st century like Justin Bieber has to add a little modern flair to the process. The Bieb debuted the title cut off his upcoming Mistletoe in Rio last night, promising that it was "the first time anywhere in the world that I've sang this." And rather than borrowing the melody of "O Little Town of Bethlehem" or "Little Drummer Boy" or any other tiny-themed Christmas song, Bieber's holiday jam lifts the chords and rhythm of Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours"—one of the more sneakily influential hits of recent years—as he sings on the chorus "It's the most beautiful time of the year / Lights fill the streets spreading there's so much cheer / I should be playing in the winter snow / But imma be under the mistletoe."
Check out Bieber's ushering in of the most wonderful time of the year, and if you need a little reminder of the Mraz cut it borrows from—because it might be, y'know, a month since you've heard it on the radio—check that below as well.
