If this were 15 years ago, the video for Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross and Karen O.'s cover of Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song," devised for the soundtrack to the upcoming blockbuster Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, would feature nothing but rapid-fire clips of scenes from the movie taken out of context but still managing to look cool. (In other words, it'd be the original trailer for Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.) But this is 2011, nobody really cares about soundtracks anymore, and who even knows if there's anything from Dragon in this video—it's all grainy close-ups of creepy images, like a cross between NIN's "Hurt" and "Into the Void" (and probably just about all other NIN videos, really.) There is a shot of a weird-looking girl with an earring, though—there's at least one of those in the Fincher movie, right?
In other words, if you're hankering for anything Girl With the Dragon Tattoo that you can get your hands on, watch this maybe. If you just really like old-school Nine Inch Nails videos, watch this definitely. Check it out over at Pitchfork, and compare and contrast with the movie's original trailer:
