Suck it, Joan Rivers. Popdust is excited to announce that comedian Tig Notaro will be our red-carpet correspondent for this Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards. We're monster fans of Tig's standup—watch a recent appearance she did on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, below—and her work on such shows as The Sarah Silverman Program (Officer Tig!). We also can unabashedly endorse her debut album, Good One, which just came out to rave reviews on top-drawer indie label Secretly Canadian, and her super addictive podcast, Professor Blastoff.
Be sure to visit Popdust following Sunday's broadcast to watch all of Tig's red-carpet interviews with the evening's biggest stars and sundry Teen Moms. In the meantime, Tig kindly volunteered to answer the following get-to-know-you musical-ish questions. You're in good hands on Sunday...
Sammy Hagar. The I Can't Drive 55 tour.
FIRST MUSICAL CRUSH:
Eddie Van Halen. Pre-Hagar days.
ARTIST/BAND I KNOW SUCKS BUT I'LL DEFEND REGARDLESS:
Gosh, there are so many. And honestly, I really don't think they suck. I just know it's not cool in certain circles to admit to liking: Taylor Dayne, Train, P!nk, Kelly Clarkson, Katy Perry.
MY GO-TO KARAOKE JAM:
Marky Mark, "Good Vibrations." "Donnie D's on the back-up, drug free, so put the crack up / No need for speed, I'm anti-d-r-u-g-g-i-e, my body's healthy, my rhymes make me weathly..."
THE ONE QUESTION I HOPE POPDUST DOESN'T MAKE ME ASK CELEBS ON THE RED CARPET:
Anything meat dress related.
FAVORITE MUSIC VIDEO OF ALL TIME:
Journey, "Separate Ways." I love that a guy would be singing his broken heart out in a junkyard about a woman... AND she happens to be there.
KATY PERRY SHOOTS FIREWORKS AND WHIPPED CREAM FROM HER BREASTS. ME, I SHOOT:
... to kill, aim to thrill.
MY JERSEY SHORE CAST MEMBER NAME:
I SHOULD HOST NEXT YEAR'S VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS BECAUSE:
It's time an obscure, third-tier cable star hosted THE single most important awards show in history.
Tig on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon:
