As he has throughout his career, Psy sings his new song"Gentleman" in a mixture of Korean and English. We're not fluent in Korean (yet—a few more Psy songs should get us there) so that makes it slightly hard for us to get a full picture of what Psy's doing in the song. We have, however, been speaking English for a while, so we might as well analyze the portion of the lyrics in which the K-Pop star speaks the King's. (WATCH the music video here.)

Alagamun-lan, ari, gari, hanon, kari, he

Alagamun-lan, we-like, we like party, hey

Fairly self-explanatory. Like the Vengaboys before him, Psy likes, Psy likes to party. This was obvious to anyone with an ounce of familiarity with Psy's music, but it's good of him to let us know up front that he's staying on-brand.

Noga, onku, pega, haga, kunge, nande, varriya

Damn girl, you're so freaking sexy

Psy told Ryan Seacrest last year that the "Heyyyyy sexy lady" line in "Gangnam Style" came about because Korean doesn't have a word as evocative as "sexy": "I cannot find any other words. 'Sexy lady' is 'sexy lady.'" Why mess with success?

I-I-I I'm a, I-I-I I'm a

I-I-I I'm a, mother-father-gentleman

Here we get to the most perplexing part of "Gentleman." The hook is undeniably catchy—maybe even more so than "Oppa Gangnam Style"—and yet, though we know each individual word, it's hard to tell what the phrase "I'm a mother-father gentleman" is supposed to mean. Clearly, as in the promo art up top, it's meant to nod at "I'm a motherfucking gentleman," but there's more to it than that. Our best guess is that Psy's saying he's the kind of nice guy you can take home to meet your parents: a real mother-father gentleman.

Ichiba, varaniya, nori, moli, holy, daddy, chunga, ri

Varriya, get feeling, feeling good, brutake

Varriya, gachu, gunya, sorinage, sorinage

Varriya, damn girl, I'mma party, morphine

Is Psy a hashtag rapper? Maybe not, but "I'mma party .... morphine" would fit perfectly on any mainstream rap track circa 2010.

Gonna make you sweat

Gonna make you wet

You know who I am, west side

Gonna make you sweat

Gonna make you wet

You know who I am, west side

"Gonna make you sweat": That's fine, many dance-track DJs have used similar lines. "Gonna make you wet": Well, that's not super-gentlemanly. As they say, if something sounds like a line from a porno, you probably shouldn't use it to make friends.

So, what have we learned? Psy likes to party, you can introduce him to your parents, and he likes terrible double-entendres. Help us out, readers—do the Korean lyrics hold any deeper meaning?
