Well, at least there's no ridiculously irritating Modest Mouse interpolation in this one. For his second single off Lasers (featuring pop music's 2011 Best Supporting Actress winner Skylar Grey), Lupe goes the
self-righteous political route, complaining about the news ("If you turn on TV all you see's a bunch of what-the-fuck / Dude is dating so-and-so, blabbering 'bout such-and-such") and Obama ("That's why I ain't vote for him / next one neither / I'm a part of the problem / My problem is I'm peaceful").
In the song's new video, Lupe lives in a world where everyone is forced to wear muzzles, and when he tries to speak his mind, he gets arrested and brought in front of the entire U.N. for judgment. (Damn you, The Man!) He breaks out of his prison cell (but not before leaving a promotional sticker behind—Lasers in stores March 8th!!), kung-fus a bunch of guards, and frees a female fellow freedom-fighter. He then impregnates her several times over, and the two and their little ones go on to lead The Resistance, also fighting off The Machines and SkyNet while they're at it. I'm guessing, anyway.
The moral of the story? It's Skylar Grey's world, we're just living in it.
