K-pop's coolest star CL is still hard at work on her upcoming English-language debut.
This week, the 2NE1 leader hit the studio with urban-pop producer Sean Garrett to record some new tunes for what we're pretty sure is going to be the most slay-worthy English album from a K-pop star ever made.
"Wow this young superstar here is so amazing!!!!!" Garret exclaimed on Instagram. "CL you know what we bout to do!"
Garrett's previously produced hits like Destiny's Child's Lose My Breath and The Pussycat Dolls' Buttons, although most K-pop fans will know him from his work on BoA's 2009 English-language album--namely the singles Energetic and I Did It For Love, both of which reached the top twenty of Billboard's dance/club chart.
A lot of Asian pop stars eyeing crossover success in the West make the fatal mistake of working with mainstream American producers who haven't had a real hit in years (spoiler: it never ends well). However, CL's already been in the studio with a string of cutting-edge producers too (including Diplo and Blood Diamonds), so we don't need to worry about her becoming the next Wonder Girls or anything.
Plus, Energetic was a next-level bop that deserved to smash the charts harder than Gangnam Style. You know it's true.
