The lovable cast of Archer will explore the post-war espionage landscape in their eighth season.
Archer, Cyril, and LANAAAAAA (not to mention the rest of the gang) will find themselves in the cut-throat world of 1947 espionage for the show's eighth season, it was revealed yesterday at the show's New York Comic Con panel.
After a season of cocaine-slinging followed by Slader-packed CIA madness and finally a brief stint as private detectives in season 7, Archer will be returning to its comedic roots with a slight twist in the show's upcoming eighth season.
Archer: Dreamland, as the show will be titled, will take the show's ritual re-shuffling to another level by introducing the same characters with original, alternate-timeline backstories.
The choice of the year 1947 hints that the show will be grappling with any number of the major historical events of the time. Whether they'll deal with Roswell and the UFO sightings, Jackie Robinson becoming the first black MLB player, or maybe even the complexities of the Truman Doctrine, we'll have to wait and see. Although, given the encounter Pam and Krieger had at Area 51, it's very likely we will see a return of the extraterrestrials.
Archer: Dreamland will premiere on FXX in 2017.
