Aretha Franklin, known as the Queen of Soul, has made us dance and sing our hearts out for more than 50 years. Her biggest and most-notable classics include Respect, (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman, Chain of Fools, Think, Spanish Harlem and Rock Steady (among many others). As this week's American Idol mentor, she hopes to pass along some of her musical sensibilities and profound wisdom to a younger generation. While her excellent material can not be replicated, her influence stretches from R&B staple Alicia Keys to current pop chanteuse Ariana Grande. As a matter of fact, Franklin spoke to radio host and personality Hoda Kobt this week on her radio show about a potential Grande-sized collaboration. "I think Ariana and I are gonna duet," she teased.
It's still unclear if she was simply answering a question, but the phrasing of her answer has us a little bit hopeful. She added, "You like that? I think we have a hot duo going."
Grande, whose own sound blends '60s soul with contemporary pop and R&B, has been known to show massive respect for the legend and cover many of Franklin's signature hits, including Natural Woman. Watch her 2012 cover video of that track below:
