Count West Coast indie-pop beach bums Best Coast among the folks that love Skeeter Davis' "End of the Wold" as much as we do. The trio, whose singer Bethany Consentino always seems to be wailing about some emotional apocalypse or another, is a fairly natural fit to take on the doomsday-bell-ringing 1962 classic—they've even proven their early-60s mettle with their excellent run through Lesley Gore's "That's the Way Boys Are" about a year back—and their acoustic, reverb-heavy rendition feels more like an original than a cover. Would their version have been even cooler if the world had in fact ended over the weekend? Probably, but it's worth a listen anyway.
