The tide is high for Beyonce these days.
Not only does her surprise release last Thursday have all eyes on her, but people are coming out in droves to buy it. A new Billboard report indicates over 828,000 copies were sold in only three days of availability on iTunes; of that total, 617,000 were sold through iTunes. This breaks the previously held one-week record by Taylor Swift's "Red," which moved 465,000 digital units last fall in its first seven days of release. The slayage here is absolutely overwhelming, Beyhive!
Meanwhile, the R&B diva has dropped the music video for one of her new singles "Drunk In Love," featuring Jay Z, which is set to hit radio today, in fact. In the clip (directed by Hype Williams), Queen Bey grinds and twerks on the beach, and her equally talented husband sips wine and raps. Life is that simple.
As far as Top 40 radio goes, "XO" serves as the single offering on the format, as reported by industry source Hits Daily Double. In the song's electrically-magnificent video (directed by Terry Richardson), Bey takes her bright smile to a carnival and gets jubilant with her fans from all over the globe. It's intoxicatingly charming, really.
