In August there were reports that Beyoncé was filming videos for both "Party" and "Countdown" off her latest album 4, but that was before the intimate New York performances, the unexpected "1+1" video and public pregnancy announcement at the VMAs, which basically changed the course of history for us all. Chalk up these last minute surprises up to a mother-to-be's prerogative, or simply a seasoned performer's well-calculated plan to keep fans on their toes, but now Beyoncé is ready to showcase the "Countdown" video in full. In the short clip below, we see Bey channeling Audrey Hepburn in the iconic black turtleneck and bangs the actress modeled in the 1957 film Funny Face. With a baby on the way, Bey can't help but smile, making her way through the first verse with a series of goofy grins and exaggerated smizes that would make Tyra Banks proud. She later transforms into a human clock before taking advantage of her changing body parts and rattling along with the infectious steel drum breakdown. For the more cynical-minded, a series of profile shots in form-fitting bodysuits work to eliminate any lingering thoughts that this just might be a publicity stunt, unless she borrowed the number of Lady Gaga's prosthetist.
Watch the preview below, and check back with us when the video premieres in full this Thursday.
