By the luck of the stars, American Hustle actor Bradley Cooper recently attended the White House State Dinner, but it didn't go as smoothly as you'd imagine (well, at least not for him).
"I couldn't believe it," he tells Ellen DeGeneres on her show on Monday (Feb. 17) of getting the invitation. "I went...and so, this is a quick story."
"I think I know the story. That's why I'm laughing already," Degeneres smirks.
"So, I'm trying to do this prepping for this new movie," he shares, "and I'm trying to gain weight fast. I've gained about 15 pounds in four weeks. Nothing fits me anymore."
He adds, "I wore the tuxedo I wore to the Golden Globes. I just sort of threw it in the bag, and brought it and went to Washington, D.C. I'm getting dressed 10 minutes before I'm supposed to go."
"Literally, the pants go up to here," he chuckles, gesturing to his upper thigh. "I just started laughing actually, 'this is hilarious.' So, I had to go commando...because there was no room at all."
Also in attendance at the State Dinner (on Feb. 11) were Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Mindy Kaling, Stephen Colbert and J.J. Abrams, among lawmakers, administrative officials and others.
