As Britney Spears nears the one year anniversary of her Las Vegas residency show, Britney: Piece of Me, the pop icon is reportedly looking to extend her contract for another two years.
Robin Leach of the Las Vegas Sun reports that the 33-year-old's original run has been so successful, with almost all shows sold-out or close to it, that a deal for a two-year renewal is "getting close to signed contract status."
Adding fuel to the fire is news that Spears' manager, Larry Rudolph, has moved to Vegas full-time after purchasing an apartment just five minutes from the Planet Hollywood venue where Piece of Me is held, while Spears herself hinted at a contract extension in recent interviews to promote her new lingerie line.
With Celine Dion currently on indefinite hiatus from her own Vegas show to care for her ailing husband, Spears is now the top-selling act on the strip, so the chances of Piece of Me wrapping up in February at the end of its original run is highly unlikely.
Let's just hope that this Vegas gig doesn't affect promo for Britney's upcoming album. Do we really want a repeat of the half-assed Femme Fatale era?
