Poitier made history as the first Black American man to win an Oscar for the film Lilies in the Field in 1963. Born in 1927, Poitier starred in many groundbreaking films including A Raisin in the Sun. He has accumulated dozens of awards over the years,was knighted by Queen Elizabeth in 1974, and is currently (hopefully) enjoying life at 93 years old.
