The CAMP tour, Childish Gambino's headlining venture in support of his debut album, has already been disrupted due to injury. The actor-rapper known to his parents as Donald Glover, and devoted Community fans (tonight!) as Troy Barnes, fractured his foot during a performance over the weekend, forcing him to postpone and reschedule a series of shows on his spring tour, scheduled to begin Friday night in Atlanta. If you've seen footage of him performing live, you'll probably understand how. From the man himself:
This past Saturday I fractured my foot on stage in Tampa during a performance and was rushed to the emergency room.
The doctors say that if I stay off of my foot for a couple weeks and wear this boot, there’s a good chance they can avoid surgery and start performing again soon.
I’m really upset by the timing of this. CAMP tour will go on, but dates will be postponed. All tour dates affected by this will be rescheduled. HERE. All tickets will be honored for whatever date they’re moved to. In some cases there will be more tickets available because the venues will be bigger, if that’s any sort of silver lining.
I apologize for this and I hope to see all you guys very soon.
So rescheduling is better than nothing, right? Like he said, be sure to stay up on information regarding new dates and updated locations while you can. Good thing Donald's day job doesn't need to be performed live, leaving us the ability to see his shining face on a weekly basis from now until May. And after that, NBC? He'll want to take the time heal properly, if only to ensure our hopes for a Gambino-Aziz Ansari-Beach Boys supergroup will come true at this year's Bonnaroo. Holing up at home can be boring, sure, but on the bright side: more time for tweeting and eating Cheetos!
