Chris Brown has slammed reports that he is hooked on sizzurp.
TMZ published a story Tuesday morning claiming those closest to the 26-year-old hip hop star fear the codeine/promethazine concoction has developed into an addiction.
Chris struck preemptively, trashing TMZ on Twitter before the story even ran.
“Tmz is about to run a bogus story tomorrow becuz they aren’t getting any traffic,” he tweeted, before claiming the story was “bullshit.”
In an Instagram post from last weekend, Brown posed on top of a hay patch with double-stacked red cups surrounding him, presumed to be filled with Sizzrup.
According to TMZ, things have gotten so bad that friends fear Brown is in danger of losing partial custody of his one-year-old daughter, Royalty.
He tested positive for codeine during his summer-long custody battle with Royalty’s mother, Nia Guzman-Amey, but he was able to prove that the opiate was doctor prescribed.
In late September, Brown called TMZ honcho Harvey Levin “the devil” on Instagram (via XXL), because they claimed the singer’s mother was worried for his safety because of his connections to an infamous LA gang.
What the devil looks like in person. Lol. You sad little man. You’ve been trying for years to destroy me. It won’t work. Your efforts are flattering. When you look back on your life when it’s that time for you to depart, what can u actually say you’ve accomplished in life? Bringing people down and being the number one source for negativity. Life’s too short homie. Find some sort of happiness. You are a grown ass man. God bless you bruh.

Sizzurp is alleged to have contributed to the deaths of DJ Screw and Pimp C, among others. It’s also believed to have triggered the seizure suffered by rapper Lil Wayne on the set of a 2013 music video.
“I was doing too much and the doctor kinda told me, ‘We can’t tell you what to do, but I suggest that your mom tell you to stop.’ [And] she did tell me to stop.”
