In response to destructive Hurricane Sandy, which left much of the East Coast in repair this week, NBC is hosting a live television event to raise money for the rebuilding process. According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together" will air on Friday November 2 at 8 p.m. EST on NBC Universal channels as well as via livestream on Today host Matt Lauer will lead the special, with expected appearances from Peacock regulars like Jimmy Fallon and Brian Williams. Christina Aguilera and Sting are scheduled to perform, as well as Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi and Billy Joel will also perform, all hailing from the New York-New Jersey areas most greatly affected by the storm. Proceeds from NBC's hour-long telethon will go to Hurricane Sandy relief efforts via The American Red Cross.

Expect inspiring musical displays that celebrate the power of the American spirit and moving stories about local heroes rising to the occasion. Because as Childish Gambino (and Donald Glover and Tracy Jordan) know, live television can also change lives.
