Less than 24 hours after news hit the web that Ciara's new single I Bet was headed to radio later this month, the song received a surprise premiere on Cici's VEVO channel--and it's absolutely amazing.
The R&B ballad, produced by Harmony Samuels (who was behind Ariana Grande's The Way and Right There), sounds like a throwback to the acoustic R&B of the '90s, as well as nod back to Ciara's own hit, 2009's Never Ever.
The slinky songstress sounds more honest and vulnerable than ever before on the single, which appears to be directed at her ex-fiancé and baby daddy Future.
"You actin' like you upgraded me, I upgraded you," she sings. "You and me Fashion Week at Paris / I put you on to that new / But you took advantage of me / took advantage of you / took advantage / I cannot understand it / I thought you'd always be there for me."
She also proves that she hasn't lost her edge by slamming her man's new woman, who she calls "that bitch with the silicone ass and the Brazilian hair."
I Bet is the perfect mix of sad and street, and undoubtedly one of the best singles of Ciara's career.
