Cody Simpson isn't wasting any more of his time on you, girl—at least that's what he sings on a brand new kiss-off track called New Problems. The pop singer-songwriter issued an acoustic live session of the song on his Facebook on Friday (Feb. 27), sending his entire fandom into overwhelming shock (but in a totally good way)! The performance took place during his recent stop at the Facebook pop-up place in Hollywood and features Simpson on guitar with amped up soul-soaked vocals.
"Now, I'm out the door, won't waste no more time thinking about you anymore," he rips on the song's grounded hook, "'cause I got new girls and new problems." Ouch! Check it out below:
Simpson has already demonstrated a far more mature sonic development for his upcoming Free EP, teased by the lead sample Flower. “It’s the first time I’ve had the creative freedom to do what I want,” he has gone on record about the new music. "I needed the independence. [The album process] has been very reflective of that.”
In case you missed the memo, you can check out last week's featurette showcasing never-before-seen footage from the studio. Producer Cisco Adler also shared his thoughts on the creative process so far: "As a producer, it’s my job to bring out the best in whoever comes by way. So, I stand back and look at ‘what do they want to be’ and ‘what do they need to be’ and ‘how do we meet in the middle.' You know, the pop kids, people think they don’t come with the skills. But they can probably sing you under the table.”
