Demi Lovato was in New York City on Friday, performing a short set for local radio station Z100's annual holiday concert promotional event. A concert before the concert? Is that like the "shirt before the shirt?" If so, then, sure. Lovato kicked the announcement off by performing the Unbroken track "My Love Is Like A Star," as well as first single "Skyscraper" and her surprising rendition of Lil Wayne's "How To Love." Even with less than optimal acoustics, Lovato continues to prove that she has the talent to back up all of this attention, gradually moving from a subtle and sleepy midtempo song to a full-on vocal awakening by its end, one that's filled with Christina Aguilera-esque growls and spastic vocal runs, topped with delicate sprinkling of high notes, all to prove that yes, in fact, this girl can REALLY SING. Point taken, but how much longer will we need to be reminded? Watch her performance below.

Z100's Jingle Ball is slated for December 9 at Madison Square Garden. Along with Lovato, performers include: Lady Gaga, Kelly Clarkson, LMFAO, David Guetta, Pitbull, Foster the People, Gym Class Heroes and Hot Chelle Rae. So, you know, you might want to ask for an early gift this year.
