In the hideous circus that has surrounded the tragic 22 year old daughter of Whitney Houston's untimely death, her family have, true to form turned Bobbi Kristina Brown's funeral into an undignified spectacle.
The Houston and Brown families gathered at St James United Methodist Church in Alpharetta, Georgia for the strictly invitation only service. Nick Gordon was most definitely not invited, despite humiliatingly begging both Bobbi Kristina's father, Bobby Brown and her aunt, Pat Houston, who is married to Whitney's brother Gary, for permission to attend. It's hardly surprising he wasn't welcome—considering he is now at the center of a full blown murder enquiry, as the circumstances around Bobbi Kristina's falling into the coma that led to her death are fully investigated.
Surprisingly, given the major douche that he is, Gordon didn't show up to try to talk his way in.
Adding to the tension, the Brown family have apparently been convinced that the Houston family would try to sneak a photo of Bobbi Kristina's dead body to sell. This is what happened at Whitney Houston's funeral in 2012—a photo of her body in the open casket ended up on the cover of a magazine, and bearing in mind the Brown family were not welcome at that funeral, they are convinced a Houston family member was responsible.
They were also majorly pissed that Pat Houston, who organized Bobbi Kristina's Sweet 16 themed funeral (the theme was reportedly the reason Dionne Warwick, Whitney's cousin, had decided to stay away), had put a note with the invitation requesting that mourners donate to a charity run by her rather than send flowers.
Drama was provided in the form of Leola Brown, Bobby Brown's sister who started screaming at Pat Houston just as she began to speak and had to be dragged out kicking and screaming;
"Whitney is rolling over in her grave! You know you are so wrong for this, Pat!"
Security escorted Leola out, followed by Tyler Perry who was also in attendance and tried to smooth over the situation. However, Leola Brown stopped to speak with reporters and said;
"I told [Pat Houston] that Whitney is going to haunt her from the grave."
She went on to say she had "evidence of who Pat really is", that Pat isn't even a Houston, and that things were "just getting started" between the Houston and Brown families, before calming down sufficiently to be allowed to re-enter the church for the service to be finished.
Just how much more odious can this entire clan get? (We suspect very). Poor Bobbi Kristina Brown had to fight the odds against the legacy of two drug addicted parents during her short life, and the more we see of these two families it becomes blatantly obvious that she never stood a chance. How disgusting that they can't even put aside their differences long enough to pay the poor kid a measure of respect and have her laid to rest with peace and dignity.
Shortly after the funeral, TMZ are reporting that Bobby Brown's wife, Alicia Etheredge, was rushed to hospital after suffering seizures in their hotel room. Etheredge gave birth to daughter Bodhi Jameson Brown on July 9 and was apparently well enough to walk with assistance to the ambulance.
