Eminem caused a brief stink two weekends ago when a new Bad Meets Evil track leaked, featuring Em appearing to dis Lady Gaga with an allusion to those old hermaphrodite rumors: "Tell Lady Gaga she can quit her job at the post office / She’s still a male lady." It's hardly the first time that Marshall has thrown down the gauntlet against a fellow pop star, but the rapper lacks the courage of his shit-talking convictions in his oncoming middle age, explaining to FuseTV over at the Bonnaroo Music Festival that the dis was not personal, and that indeed he has much respect for Mother Monster. Quoth Em:

I think Lady Gaga, as an artist you know, she’s undeniable, you know. That was one of them things where sometimes I get a joke in my head and I kinda want to share it with the world, you know what I’m saying. So it was just one of them things man, and it’s you know it’s all in fun, its hip hop...It is what it is, but as far as an artist, she’s dope, she’s an incredible talent.

We understand. You think of an absolutely hilarious dis of a musical peer, based on awful puns and dumb rumors that nobody's even thought about in years, and you just can't rest until the rest of the world gets to revel in the hilarity with you. It's like getting a song stuck in your head—you can't get it out until it's firmly lodged in someone else's. So thanks for that, Marshall—remind us to call you up next time we've been humming "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" to ourselves all day.
