He once said that “f**king Jews…are responsible for all the wars in the world.” And told his ex that if she got “raped by a pack of n*****s it would be her fault.”
The Dark Knight actor makes his comments in a new interview with Playboy magazine.
And the 56-year-old Brit is doing anything but holding back.
When asked about Gibson – who has become a Hollywood outcast because of his racist and anti-Semitic comments – Oldman blasts “political correctness.”
He says: “I just think political correctness is crap…I think it’s like, take a f**king joke. Get over it.”
In defense of Gibson, 58, Oldman says, “I don’t know about Mel. He got drunk and said a few things, but we’ve all said those things.
“We’re all f**king hypocrites. That’s what I think about it.”
Gibson initially fell from grace after a 2006 drunk-driving arrest when he went on a tirade against Jews.
Oldman tells Playboy, “The policeman who arrested him has never used the word ‘n****r’ or ‘that f**king Jew’? I’m being brutally honest here.
“It’s the hypocrisy of it that drives me crazy. Or maybe I should strike that and say “the N word” and “the F word,” though there are two F words now.”
Oldman, who is promoting his new movie Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, adds, “Mel Gibson is in a town that’s run by Jews and he said the wrong thing because he’s actually bitten the hand that I guess has fed him – and doesn’t need to feed him anymore because he’s got enough dough.
“He’s like an outcast, a leper, you know?
“But some Jewish guy in his office somewhere hasn’t turned and said, ‘That f**king kraut’ or ‘F**k those Germans’, whatever it is?
“We all hide and try to be so politically correct. That’s what gets me. It’s just the sheer hypocrisy of everyone…”
Oldman also defends Alec Baldwin who has been criticized for using homophobic slurs on more than one occasion.
He says of the 30 Rock actor, “Alec calling someone an F-A-G in the street while he’s pissed off coming out of his building because they won’t leave him alone.
“I don’t blame him. So they persecute.”
Oldman took aim directly at Hollywood too, saying, “At the Oscars, if you didn’t vote for 12 Years a Slave you were a racist.”
At one point during the interview – perhaps realizing that his comments are going to create a few headlines – Oldman tells Playboy, “So this interview has gone very badly.
“You have to edit and cut half of what I’ve said, because it’s going to make me sound like a bigot.”
But the actor does take care to point out that he is not “a fascist or a racist.”
