Popdust Presents | Skylar Stecker wants only one thing... you!

Dan Victor 08/25/17

"Only Want You" is currently #1 on the Billboard Dance Chart.

This already iconic, pop music sensation is headed for big things and she is only fifteen, much more aware than her age would lead you to believe. Before the broadcast began, we chatted with her and her mom, after being in Atlanta earlier that day. It is clear after speaking with her for 5 minutes how naturally gifted Skylar is. Her mother is so supportive of her career. They joked about how little they had to sleep, but were happy to be there. We found out how much she loves the musical Hamilton and that she has been compared to Shakira. Such a charming and friendly girl, it is easy to see why Disney noticed her talent.

Skylar's new music is earning her recognition and honors as Radio Disney's "Next Big Thing" and KIIS FM has named her their "Next Up" artist. Her new song "How Did We" written by Justin Tranter & Julia Michaels, is featured as the main end title for Warner Brother Studios hit summer teen love movie "Everything, Everything", out in theaters May 19th. Her latest single "Only Want You" is currently #1 on the Billboard Dance Chart. Skylar is wrapping up her summer tour through September 2017.

Don't make me mad, don't make me hate you.
Don't make me see you in the morning.
And say, "I would never date you"

At only 9 years old, Skylar Stecker knew she had a passion for music. After gaining national recognition from singing at major sporting events, Skylar's entered the 2012 International Modeling & Talent Association Awards in Los Angeles, gaining awards for best singer and most sought after talent. After moving to LA in 2013, Skylar became the youngest artist to be signed to Cherrytree Records at 11 years old. She quickly gained a large fan base, gaining over 30 million views and 353K subscribers on YouTube alone. Cherrytree is famous for developing Lady Gaga and Ellie Goulding.

In January 2015, she released an independent EP titled Firecracker, with the single "Rooftop" attracting more than five and a half million YouTube views and selling over 40,000 singles. She wrote most of the album herself!Shortly after the EP's release, Skylar was invited to perform on NBC's Today Show as Elvis Duran's featured "Artist Of The Month." She was also handpicked to participate in Vevo's DSCVR series as well as iHeart Radio's "Next Up" series that showcase in-studio performances from some of the year's most exciting new artist discoveries.

In 2016, she released her debut album This Is Me, undertook two national tours in support of the albums release, recorded the theme song to Disney's RDMA's "Cherry on Top," and hit no. 1 on the Billboard Dance Chart with "Sweet Dreams"- her collaboration with the electronic duo JX RIDERS.

It was a lot of fun and laughs through the interview. What a pleasure it was to have such a well spoken artist on our show. Popdust predicts Skylar Stecker is going places, with her friendly attitude, endless talent and miles of determination. She could easily be the next teen pop sensation.
