Carrie and Aayan’s burgeoning love story continues on Homeland this week, with Carrie helping Aayan practice his cover story like every sweet girlfriend/spy does. After a disgusting display of affection, Carrie gives Aayan a passport, some money, and a ticket to London. She informs him that he has to leave tonight before he gets caught or something else goes wrong.
She then goes to see Quinn and asks for a small operations team, but she doesn’t say why. While Carrie’s away, Aayan heads back to his dorm room to gather some of his belongings and has a run in with his ex. Being a stupid, young kid he confesses to her that he’s basically fallen in love with Carrie and that he’s going to school in London. When he leaves the dorm, he immediately realizes he’s being followed. He loses the guy and heads back to Carrie’s apartment. Carrie explains to him just how bad his situation now is, especially in light of the fact that he told his jealous ex he was leaving, and suggests that he lay low for a while.
Aayan tells Carrie that his uncle can help get him to England. Cue the hallelujah chorus! Well didn’t that just work out perfectly for Carrie?! Just as they begin discussing the details of their new plan, a bunch of men barge into the apartment. Carrie is captured and thrown in the back of a van but Aayan manages to escape. Well in actuality, they let him escape because it turns out those men were with the CIA and this was all part of Carrie’s master plan. However Carrie did get punched in the face, which as a viewer, felt really good.
Carrie and her team immediately begin tracking Aayan with a chip that was placed in his fake passport. He immediately makes a call to his uncle and they decide on a place to meet.
Meanwhile, Quinn is getting some bad news. First he’s informed that Ghazi wasn’t on the plane that Saul had him track. Then he finds out that Saul never landed in DC and no one at Langley has heard from him. Then he finds out Saul never even got on the plane, and now he’s convinced that something is terribly wrong. He immediately goes to asks Carrie if she’s heard from Saul, but when he walks in she’s sort of got her hands full watching a shit show unfold via satellite drone.
Aayan is met in a remote area by a group of armed men, all of whom the team is able to identify with facial recognition software, and all of whom are major targets. They walk him over to a caravan where another truck pulls up, and his uncle Haqqani gets out with SAUL!!! (Noooooooooo) Haqqani tells Aayan that Saul is the former head of the CIA and that Carrie works for him. He also informs Aayan that Carrie was never his friend and that because of him, there are drones flying overhead to kill him. Wow, he’s pretty dead on. After those comforting words, Haqqani pulls out a pistol and shoots his nephew in the head. Then Carrie starts yelling, “Take the shot! Take the shot!” Are you f*cking kidding Carrie!?!?!?!? You’re gonna take out Saul!!!!! Good thing Quinn is in the room to cancel the call because Carrie has her crazy face on and doesn’t seem to realize (or care) that she almost just took out her mentor. In all the chaos, Haqqani escapes with Saul. Back to square one.
