New Kids on the Block member Joey McIntyre was right around the block when two explosions went off at the Boston Marathon finish line yesterday.

McIntyre, whose running the race inspired the worldwide trending hashtag #RunJoeyRun, missed the bombs by just minutes. This morning he talked to KISS 108 about the terrifying event. "I was sitting in Copley Square on a bench, talking to some guys about how it was my first marathon and I heard the blasts...You just kind of knew it was a bombing."

For many of the shaken witnesses, McIntyre's face was likely a familiar and friendly one. "Some fans came running up to me," he recalled, "And we just kind of cried together." Meanwhile, McIntyre was looking for a familiar face of his own. "Finally I saw my dad," he said, choking up.

As for the future, the Boston native is optimistic. "I know we will come back stronger. The Boston Marathon is a tradition like no other and this a great city."

Here's hoping, boy.
