Biebs, nice to see you, where you been? It's been far too long since crooner Justin Bieber has offered up new music—not to mention a deliciously tribal-pop entry as Where Are Ü Now, an electrifying collaboration featured on Skrillex and Diplo's new surprise album Skrillex and Diplo Present Jack Ü. Pinned together with electro-jungle beats and a wailing synth, the track hits its stride in the chorus, allowing Bieber to douse the lyrics with his smoothly-polished R&B but still venture outside his typical box.
The record, released overnight on Thursday (Feb. 26), also features musical matches with Kiesza (“Take Ü There," with a bonus Missy Elliott remix), 2 Chainz (“Febreze”) and AlunaGeorge (“To Ü”). Grab it on iTunes.
While his fourth studio album is currently in the works, Bieber has left fans mostly in the dark, only hinting at his work with esteemed producer Rick Rubin, co-founder of the legendary Def Jam label. His most notable credits truly run the gamut, from songs by Neil Diamond, Damien Rice, Ed Sheeran, Lady Gaga, country singer Jennifer Nettles, Eminem, The Civil Wars, Lana Del Rey, and Adele, among too many to count.
