"hmmmm......," Justin Bieber tweeted about an hour ago, a cryptic bit of microblogging that apparently was a precursor to some OMG major news in the Canadian teen sensation's world: He has cut his hair, ridding himself of the feathery 'do that has defined his public image since he first started uploading clips of himself to YouTube channel all those months ago. An interview with TMZ that was for the most part about this gigantic life change offered up some answers:

WHY, WHY, WHY, WHY?

"I had the same haircut for 3 1/2 years ... My fans'll get used to it."

NO, BUT REALLY, WHY?

"I think I'm definitely growing up. I'm not growing up too quickly, but at the same time [I want] a more mature look."

HOW DID HIS HAIRDRESSER FEEL ABOUT IT?

"She just kind of wanted to change it up too, because it was the same for so long. She was cool."

DOES HE FEEL THAT CUTTING HIS HAIR WILL RUIN HIS MOJO?

"I don't really have any superstitions. We pray before we go onstage, and that's about it. I don't really believe in stuff like that."
