As expected, G-Dragon is the big winner on the K-pop charts this week. Six tracks from the BIGBANG star's new solo album, Coup D'etat, fill this week's top ten, beginning with "Who You?" at No. 1. The Jennie Kim-assisted "Black" follows at No. 2, then the title track, "Coup D'etat," at No. 5, "ROD" at No. 6, "Crooked" at No. 7, and last but not least, GD's collaboration with Missy Elliott, "Niliria," at No. 10.
Additionally, the Coup D'etat album debuts on the Billboard 200 this week at No. 182. It sold 2,000 copies, which were all digital (the album hasn't been released physically yet).
Back to Korea now, where KARA's latest single, "Damaged Lady," debuts at No. 4. It's their lowest position for a lead single since 2008's "Rock U," but when you factor in that the popular girl group is currently in the middle of a huge scandal, it's not such a bad showing. Also, their Full Bloom album arrived at No. 1 on the album chart, proving that KARA's fanbase is still strong.
Sunmi's sexy "24 Hours" --which debuted at No. 2 last week-- plunges to No. 11 due to G-Dragon's comeback and a slew of popular OST ballads. It's another blow to the former Wonder Girl, who recently lost out to both EXO on TEEN TOP on music programs despite having higher digital sales than the two.
Last but not least is Brave Brothers' girl group, Brave Girls, who shoot up 77 spots to No. 50 with "For You." That might not look too impressive on first glance, but considering that "For You" is just a non-promoted digital single and that Brave Girls haven't put any new music out in a year-and-a-half, it's not too shabby at all.
