After four long years, Girl's Day have finally scored their first No. 1 single on the Gaon chart. Their adorable new single, "Darling," just debuted at the top, pushing aside last week's winner, Eunji and Huh Gak's "Break Up To Make Up," down to No. 4.
It's hard to believe that Girl's Day are now only topping the singles chart considering their current popularity. They previously peaked at No. 5 with "Twinkle Twinkle" in 2011 and then again with last year's "Female President," while January's "Something" narrowly missed the pole position at No. 2.
Block B's new pre-release single "Jackpot" debuts at No. 10, which is quite impressive considering that the song has been floating around online for months now. It was originally due for release in April, and even had its official music video released at the time, but was postponed at the last minute due to the Sewol ferry disaster. It was just last week that it officially went on sale as a warm up for the band's new album, HER.
Taking a huge tumble this week is f(x), whose edgy new single "Red Light" plunges from No. 2 to No. 12. It's already doing poorly on real-time digital charts compared to their past releases, while the group's promotional schedule was just wiped clean after the mysterious disappearance of member Sulli, who is supposedly too ill to perform.
Meanwhile, rookie girl group MAMAMOO show some serious staying power with "Mr. Ambiguous," which rises one spot to No. 24.
Last but not least is T-ara's sexy goddess Hyomin, who falls to No. 40 with "Nice Body" after just three weeks. At this point, the song is performing a little worse than Jiyeon's "1min1sec" did.
