In the months leading up to the release of a new Rihanna album, dozens of reports hit the web from producers, writers, and artists who have been asked to submit songs for possible inclusion on what will likely end up becoming one of the biggest albums of the year. Riri appears to pull songs from everywhere and anywhere, which is probably why she's amassed thirteen No. 1 singles in less than ten years.
The latest name to be thrown around for Rihanna's upcoming eighth studio album (or #R8 as it's known as on Twitter) is Kiesza, who recently broke out on the music scene with her mega-hit, "Hideaway." The Canadian pop star says that Riri's already recorded a few of the songs that she's written, singling out one in particular as a completely unexpected choice.
"Rihanna recorded two or three of my songs," she told Digital Spy. "Whether they will end up on the album, I don't know."
"The one that Rihanna has cut is one that I never in a million years expected her to pick out, so it was super interesting. It just shows that people want to evolve and try new things."
This isn't too surprising coming from Rihanna, who usually reinvents herself with every album (although, it was kind of hard to tell the Talk That Talk and Unapologetic eras apart). It'll be interesting to see where she goes next, especially in the aftermath of Beyonce's game-changing visual album.
What are you hoping to see from #R8? Let us know in the comments.
