In her Canadian Idol days, before Scooter Braun and everybody on the Internet rushed in, Carly Rae Jepsen used to be a bit of a folkie, closer to Katie Melua than Katy Perry. It's not surprising at all, then, that "Call Me Maybe" sounds so great acoustic. It's written that way. No, there aren't any strings anymore, but the sugary vocals are still there with equally sugary lyrics, still utterly charming (one writer compared it to "a cartoon character's eyes turning into big pink hearts"). It's still the sort of thing that won't leave your head for hours.
Why do we mention that? Because it's Monday morning and there's a chance the song's gotten out of your head over the weekend. Let's fix that!
