TMZ has an audio clip of the track, sung by Deborah Cox—and you can listen to it right here on Popdust.
As previously reported, Whitney died, age 48, in February 2012. Her body was discovered lifeless in the bath of her Beverly Hilton Hotel room just hours before she was due to attend manager Clive Davis’ pre-Grammys party.
It was initially believed she had drowned, but the subsequent coroner’s report found Whitney was already dead—from a lethal mix of prescription drugs and alcohol—prior to her head sinking into the water.
Houston’s family is at war with Lifetime as they believe the biopic doesn’t honor the late singer—and they have refused permission for the network to use any of Whitney’s recordings.
Undeterred, Lifetime hired Cox to sing in place of Whitney, with questionable results.
