How do you follow up an Academy Award winning score? By creating the soundtrack for one the most anticipated films of the year, of course. Fans of Stieg Larsson, Trent Reznor and sandwiches were treated to a red band trailer for the upcoming adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo over the holiday weekend. The clip, believed to have been pirated from U.S. theaters preceding screenings of The Hangover II, is a jarring first look at the film set to the sounds of Reznor and Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O's synth-infused take on the 1970 Led Zeppelin classic "Immigrant Song." Reznor is once again working with Social Network partner Atticus Ross and director David Fincher, but has said the Dragon Tattoo score will move away from the haunting, electronic sounds of his first film, in exchange for more performance-based string arrangements. Does that mean it's not too early to predict a repeat at the 2012 Oscars? (Move over, John Williams.) Can we expect Reznor to jump aboard The Hunger Games train as well? Listen to Reznor and O, below. (Also: snow, Swedes, Daniel Craig!)
