File this under: Best Friday Gift Ever. Ever since Iggy Azalea's "Fancy" became a smash (rising to the summit on the Hot 100 this week), fans have gone nuts--making witty jokes about Reba McEntire's 1990 hit by the same name. Sure the styles and themes are vastly different, and doesn't look like it could work on paper. But boy were we wrong! A new succinctly fan-produced mashup of the two songs has us itching for a proper collaboration.
The internet gods are smiling down upon us right now, blessing us with this pop perfection (as we hit repeat for the 100th time today). Azalea's hip-hop spun verses are overlaid onto McEntire's pop-country tale, a chilling story about a mother who gives her daughter another chance at life by selling her to the highest bidder. Fancy is her name, and she heads into the city to make a name for herself, as a prostitute. That might seem like a sad life, but it ends up being the best thing for her. She ends up becoming a world renown and top-selling actress.
This concoction could have not come at a better time, as Azalea's "Fancy" and her feature on Ariana Grande's "Problem" lifts the rising star on par with The Beatles. The rapper is only the second act to clutch the top two spots on Billboard's Hot 100 tally at the same time. History is made!
