Brisbane-based Mallrat, the musical moniker of indie-pop guru Grace Shaw, releases "Charlie" today, a slow-burn ballad dedicated to Shaw's childhood golden retriever.
Shot exclusively on 8 mm film, the nostalgic video features the pup himself and establishes the context of her new EP. Driving Music is set for release September 6 and will depart from the radio-friendly electro-pop heard on In The Sky, instead providing open, relatable narratives. The new project comes on the heels of the success of "Groceries" on SiriusXM Alt Nation.
In fact, PAPER recently named the 20-year-old on their list of "100 Women Revolutionizing Pop," with everyone from The FADER to The New York Times noting the undeniable talent of the Australian singer. She has toured extensively with Post Malone, Maggie Rogers and gnash, and now plans to take the spotlight for herself.
