Whether or not you like Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry, people are definitely buying their records. The pop divas' new albums have both gone Gold this week, with Katy's Prism sales now at 524,000 copies in the States, followed closely by Miley's Bangerz at 502,000.
On top of high album sales, the pair's singles sales are through the roof. "Roar" has sold 3,848,000 copies, which means it won't be long until it's certified quadruple platinum, while Miley's "We Can't Stop" has sold 2,831,000 copies, followed by "Wrecking Ball" with 2,487,000 copies. "Wrecking Ball" is still in the top ten of iTunes and has been No. 1 on Billboard's Streaming Songs chart for eight consecutive weeks, so its longevity is probably why Miley hasn't announced her third Bangerz single just yet.
While Katy and Miley are dominating the American charts, Lady Gaga isn't doing so hot. Her new album, ARTPOP, suffered a second-week sales drop of 82% this week, plunging from No. 1 to No. 8 on the Billboard 200. This puts ARTPOP in the top five biggest second-week drops of all time -- a top five that already includes Born This Way! Ouch.
