"Ahhhh," indeed! The 20-year-old's highly anticipated single "We Can't Stop" premiered this morning on On Air With Ryan Seacrest, and we're fast fans. The song itself carries a lot of familiar Miley elements—partying and putting one's hands up, namely. "It's our party we can do what we want," chants a low voice (to our ears, it's the "You are now now rocking with" dude from "Scream and Shout") at the song's opening. This theme persists, with Miley insisting that we "forget the haters" and "say what we want" over a beat that gives us serious "Price Tag" vibes.
Could this be Miley's "Run the World"-esque girl power anthem? "We can't stop. We won't stop. We run things, things don't run we. Don't take nothing from nobody." The song is completely free of any masculine mentions; her "home girls here with the big butts" are shakin' it for themselves.
If you have a soft spot for Miley getting self-referential a la "See You Again" (as we do), you're in luck! "La la da dee dee. We like to party. Dancin' with Miley," she chimes at the bridge. As long as she keeps being Miley, we won't stop listening.
