Justin Bieber didn't receive a single Grammy nomination this week, meaning he'll be free on February 10 and have to wait a little longer before cashing in on that lifelong dream. It's a travesty both we and Scooter Braun can agree on, but it's certainly not the end of the world for le Bieb. While bright and shiny things are pretty, and getting to speak before one's peers is a nice (if not also terrifying) privilege, Bieber has a lot to be excited about come January. Here's why:
HE'S MAKING AN ANIMATED RETURN TO THE SMALL SCREEN
Do you also think back fondly on Bieber's death scene on CSI? Was Bieber's guest mentor episode of The X Factor the only one you watched all season? Then this is good news! Bieber has a cameo on The Simpsons scheduled for 2013. Who else can say that?
HE'S TAKING HIS BELIEVE TOUR OVERSEAS
HE'S RECORDING AN ALBUM
Bieber's next LP might just be that acoustic project he can't stop talking (and tweeting) about. Given the positive response his live renditions of "Boyfriend" and "As Long As You Love Me" have received, we're curious to see what an entire album #withDanKanter could sound like.
4. AND WORKING WITH HIS FRIENDS
After some Twitter comments revealed that the Wanted's Nathan Sykes and the Bieb spent time in the studio this week, we can't stop thinking about what the outcome could bring. May this Scooter-bred friendship prosper and may fans reap the benefits for years to come with a great tune.
5. HE'LL SOON BE ABLE TO LEGALLY DRINK IN HIS HOME COUNTRY
The legal drinking age in most Canadian provinces is 19, which the Bieb will be come March 1. To those charming little pubs in Stratford, Ontario: We recommend hiring extra security that night, and maybe, a barf bag.
6. HE'LL HAVE A FEATURE CREDIT ON THE MOST ANTICIPATED ALBUM OF THE YEAR
Or simply the most delayed. The Black Eyed Peas frontman plans on finally releasing his fourth solo album on February 3, after building—at the very least—some curiosity around the project, thanks to an A-list roster of collaborators. "You and Me," will's duet with the Bieb, leaked earlier this fall, promising a lot of technology references and closed-eye crooning. While putting up with multiple date changes takes severe #willpower, we're sure he's more than ready to flaunt some of the new hashtags his friend has concocted.
7. HE CAN WATCH HIS BELOVED TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS ONCE AGAIN
The NHL lockout doesn't show signs up letting up, but maybe that's because Commissioner Gary Bettman and various players haven't been properly focusing their energy on believing. Bieber taught us that can help you achieve anything, and that most definitely includes salvaging the 2012-13 season. (And when they do, they should call him.) But if not? There's always next fall.
