R. Kelly's throat surgery has not in fact ended his career. In fact, a new album's going to drop! This is a careful choice of words, as Kells said in an interview with 107.5 WGCI’s The Morning Riot that the album was called Black Panties. And that's how we knew it was in fact a R. Kelly album, considering he's (bare) neck-and-neck with The-Dream for writing songs about every possible sexual detail. Kells also said the first single would be called "10 Minutes." No indication on whether that fits the album title's theme, despite some joking by the hosts toward that end. As for what the single and album will sound like, all we really heard was that track "Love Letter" was "a moment in time" and not necessarily representative of R. Kelly's music direction. It clears things up, and yet it doesn't.
More from the interview:
On his greatest song: "Seems Like You're Ready," which he said wasn't addressed to anyone in particular but a few people.
On the Trey Songz pseudo-feud: "I was pretty numb. I don't feel those things, you know what I'm saying? I'm bulletproof when it comes to beef. I don't deal with beef. I love steak."
On who's next in R&B: Trey Songz, actually, if he "humbled himself a bit more."
On Chris Brown: R. Kelly has the "utmost respect" for Chris! He also said he's a "humble guy," though, so you might want to take that with some skepticism.
