Pentatonix have made waves with their precisely cut covers (including their smashing "Evolution Of Beyonce"), bolstered by their charming vocals and infectious arrangements. With three cleverly constructed albums (PTX Volume 1, PTXmas and PTX Volume 2) under their proverbial belts, the quintet have officially taken that next step to superstardom: they've signed a lucrative record deal with RCA Records!
As the home of Britney Spears, Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, Imogen Heap, Jazmine Sullivan, Justin Timberlake, Kesha, Miley Cyrus (and so many more), the group is certainly in talented company. Who's ready for a new album?!
Of course, their win on The Sing-Off's third installment certainly helped. With sales exceeding 500,000 copies (most of that coming from their No. 1 holiday-themed disc), their musicality certainly speaks to the masses in a big way. RCA President & COO Tom Corson sees the potential. “We are thrilled to have Pentatonix join RCA,” he notes in a statement on Tuesday (May 13). “Their musicality and special vocal abilities have enabled them to create innovative original songs as well as re-create some of today’s biggest hits. Pentatonix is unique to our business and we look forward to working with them as we take their talents to new and exciting heights everywhere in the world.”
"We're really excited to start this new chapter of our career with RCA,” the group gushes of the milestone. “We feel like we've found a home where we can truly develop our artistry with the best in the industry."
To-date, their Youtube channel has over 445 million views and 5.6 million subscribers: that's nothing to sneeze at in this digital age. As a result, they are the No. 61 most subscribed-to-channel and recently sold-out their 32-date North American Tour. Band mates Scott Hoying, Kirstie Maldonado, Mitch Grassi, Avi Kaplan and Kevin Olusola are currently touring the Europe landscape on, yet another, sold-out extravaganza.
