It's a mark of Justin Bieber's odd place in our pop-culture universe that, while he's undoubtedly the biggest teen-pop star on the planet, awards shows have never been particularly kind to him. There were the Grammys snubs, sure, but even venues that you'd think would be receptive to the Bieb's charms, like the MTV VMAs, have found ways to overlook his talents.

On Saturday night, though, Biebs' fortunes reversed. At the first-ever Radio Disney Music Awards, Bieber finally took home some hardware, winning Best Male Artist over Cody Simpson, Austin Mahone and Bruno Mars. (Bieber was also nominated for Song of the Year and Fiercest fans, but lost out to Taylor Swift and One Direction, respectively.) Sure, it's only the Radio Disney Music Awards, but even the most critically acclaimed artists have to start somewhere.

Elsewhere, Austin Mahone triumphed in the much-anticipated Best Viral Artist category, while One Direction scored wins for Best Music Group as well as Fiercest Fans.
