Sky Ferreira's position in the music world is an awkward one. Her start as a teenage dance-pop star and current associations with mainstream superstars like Miley Cyrus (Sky's currently opening the Bangerz tour) makes some of the more selective sections of the indie world hesitant to fully embrace her, yet her current music leans way too far to the left to ever appeal to the same top forty crowd that listens to the likes of Katy Perry and Beyonce.
It's a shame that Sky's full-length debut, Night Time, My Time, has had trouble catching on commercially, because it's easily one of last year's best releases. Still, Sky's chugging along and really working the record 'till the end (as she should), with plans to release "Boys" as the next official single from the set.
As far as potential Night Time, My Time singles go, the grungy new-wave mish-mash of "Boys" is about as good as it gets. It'll be officially out in the UK from March 1st, and an "elaborate" and "unexpected" music video with "You're Not The One" director Grant Singer is currently in the works.
