Our galaxy is about to get a lot better in a future that's not so far, far away.

A few hours ago, fans of legendary interstellar franchise Star Wars got the biggest treat they could expect: a trailer and official artwork for the latest film. Today, during the annual fan-organized Star Wars Celebration in Orlando, The Last Jedi was announced in grand fashion during a panel that featured producers and stars alike. For those of us who couldn't hightail it to Florida on a Starfighter, the panel was live-streamed on Facebook by Verizon.

The panel discussion revolved around everything from behind-the-scenes info about shooting the film at Pinewood Studios in London to honoring Carrie Fisher's last performance as General Leia Organa, and further developing her from the a scrappy feminist icon to the leader of the Resistance. Lead actress Daisy Ridler, who plays the veritable heir to Luke Skywalker, came onstage to talk about her character Rey, divulging that the film would be "going deep into Rey's story." John Boyega received a similarly warm reception, as did a BB-8 bot that came onstage.

Halfway through the panel, after a few more Q&A sessions from new actors like Kelly Marie Tran to series staple Mark Hamill, the trailer was revealed to resounding applause. Amid a stunning score, wide shots of space oceans and mountains, we see Rey honing her newfound control of the force. "I see light, darkness, and balance," she says. We see BB-8 and Oscar Isaac's Poe Dameron wreaking havoc as Adam Driver's Kylo Ren spins his fractured Lightsaber at the viewer. The trailer ends somberly, with a voiceover from Hamill as a jaded, wizened Luke Skywalker: "I only know one truth; it's time for the Jedi to end."

The Force, it would seem, is as strong as ever.
