After she covered Eminem and Uncle Kracker in Michigan, we advised Philadelphia Popdust readers to "bone up on their Hall and Oates and Boyz II Men" for Taylor Swift's stop at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia last night. Turns out, she is not so easily pigeonholed. She did indeed break out the covers in her little "You Belong With Me" cover medley last night, but went with the girls over the boys, choosing to play "Who Knew," by Doylestown, PA native Pink and 1999 #1 hit "Unpretty" by TLC...from Atlanta, GA. Yes, the late Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes was initially from Philly, but Swift made no special mention of that, nor did she even perform one of Left Eye's trademark raps. C'mon, Taylor—50 years of proud pop tradition in the City of Brotherly Love, you can do a little better than that.
Also, when she finally does launch into "You Belong With Me," she introduces it as "another song by an artist from Philly...wanna see if you know it." Taylor's hometown of Wyomissing is actually about 50 miles away from Philly, and is in fact slightly closer to the state capital of Harrisburg. Just saying.
