"This place about to blow," Kesha sings in her most recent single, and Cirkut fulfills the song's titular prophecy on his explosive remix, tweeted this morning by Dr. Luke. "Welcome @_cirkut to the Prescription Songs family!" Dr. Luke proclaimed; from the sound of it, this remix of "Blow" might just have been the DJ's audition tape.
Much like Ke$ha herself, Cirkut's take on "Blow" is stuffed with ideas and completely unable to stand still. Every thirty seconds introduces a new take on the song, including two sidechain-tastic sections (the first pounding like like electro Cirkut used to make with Dream Machine parter AG as members of Let's Go to War, the second glitched up like the French electro-house of later Daft Punk or anyone signed to Ed Banger), a dubstep wobble more bro-ed out than even Rusko could manage, and a mashup with the dancehall-electro riff of Major Lazer's "Pon de Floor."
And yet the mix hardly seems piecemeal thanks to the connective tissue between variations (i.e. the sections where the audio waveform isn't completely peaking), which showcase Ke$ha's vocals as they existed on the original track—instead of chopped up in each of Cirkut's costume changes—while transitioning smoothly between drops.
Dance heads will probably hate this mix, but dance floors will love it.
