The Wanted will help light the Olympic torch this July in a partnership with Coca-Cola, the band announced this morning. According to the BBC the group will be featured in the ongoing series of concerts leading up to the opening ceremony of the London Summer Olympics, which corresponds with the Olympic Torch Relay beginning on May 25. Concerts take place across Great Britain at various torch stops, including Cardiff, Wales, Glasgow, Scotland and Leeds, England, through July. The Wanted will be performing at the final concert, live from Hyde Park on July 26. Other acts include Mark Ronson, Katy B, Dizzee Rascal, You Me At Six and Eliza Doolittle. All this in addition to the closing ceremony's tribute to "All Things British?" You international athletes don't realize how good you have things sometimes.
One Direction were previously asked about their involvement in the upcoming games during their early morning visit to Today, but appeared unaware of any upcoming plans on their end. Twitter petitions and online wish lists have already been created, surely there's room for two successful British boy bands during the two week extravaganza?
