Honey Boo Boo's original Georgia house is due to be demolished today.
The owner of the 1,368 sq ft 3 bed property rubbed his hands together with glee, seeing the $$$ rolling in, hoping to cash in on the 'celebrity' of the house—it was up for sale for $45,000 which is almost double the $27,000 he paid for it just five years ago.
Trouble is the notoriety and scandal around the family, has meant that there wasn't any interest in the property at all. The owner has been left with no option but to bulldoze it to the ground and build a new house on the plot.
The destruction of the house may come as something of a relief for TLC and will hopefully serve as a full stop to the bitter end of the successful reality show, centering around Alana 'Honey Boo Boo' Thompson.
The family were controversial yet endearing, and the show was set to survive Mama June Shannon kicking out her long term partner Mike Sugar Bear Thompson for cheating. A whole season was filmed around a new format of Mama June being single and Sugar Bear coping with being away from his family,
That footage was never released however, as Mama June was soon accused of reconnecting with her ex Mark McDaniel, a former boyfriend who had been convicted of sexual assault on a minor. Mama June denied it and TMZ hammered the nail firmly into the coffin, by releasing pictures of them house-hunting together along with Honey Boo Boo.
TLC decided the situation was too hot for them to handle and cancelled the show, shelving the unreleased footage. Worse was to come though, when Mama June's eldest daughter, Anna Chickadee Cardwell revealed she was McDaniel's victim and a hideous and public family feud erupted.
The landlord has wisely come to realize that no-one wants to live in a creepy house that has molestation allegations circling over it and cut his losses. Seems like a fitting end.
